LOU 4th of July

The Chamber of Commerce continues to unite a team of volunteers to partner with the City of Oxford and the University of Mississippi for the Annual LOU 4th of July Community Celebration.  The committee’s intention for this series of events is for this to be a weekend to celebrate America’s hard-won freedoms together as a local community.

2011 Schedule of Events

Saturday, July 2

  • Street Dance on the Square
  • Firecracker Ball to benefit the American Cancer Society

Sunday, July 3

  • Interdenominational Spiritual Service

Monday, July 4

  • “Stars & Stripes on the Square” 5K Classic to benefit the Oxford Lafayette Humane Society
  • “Fired Up” Children’s Parade on the Square
  • Children’s activities, live music and picnic in the Grove on the campus of the University of Mississippi
  • Patriotic Ceremony honoring our local service men and women
  • Annual Fireworks Spectacular, presented by the Oxford Fire Dept.

Volunteers Needed

Want to be involved? The LOU 4th of July Committee is eagerly seeking new volunteers to serve on its executive committee for the 2011 festivities. Many positions still need to be filled. We are working very hard to grow our community celebration and can not do it without you. Meetings are once a month through July.
